Scream Bloody Gore is the debut studio album by Death, released in 1987 through Combat Records. Chuck Schuldiner wrote the material and performed guitar, bass, and vocals, with Chris Reifert on drums. Recorded in Los Angeles with producer Randy Burns after an earlier Florida session was rejected, the album established the raw and aggressive sound that defined Death's earliest period.
Drawing on thrash metal, hardcore punk, and horror film imagery, the record combines rapid riffs, harsh vocals, and graphic lyrical themes. Scream Bloody Gore is widely regarded as a foundational death metal album and an important point in the development of the genre.
