Danzig 4 is the fourth studio album by American heavy metal band Danzig, released in 1994 on American Recordings. It was the band’s final release for the label and the last album recorded by the group’s original lineup, featuring vocalist Glenn Danzig alongside guitarist John Christ, bassist Eerie Von, and drummer Chuck Biscuits.
Although commonly referred to simply as Danzig 4, the album is sometimes styled as Danzig 4P. Glenn Danzig initially intended for the record to be released without a printed title so the cover artwork could stand on its own, but a sticker reading “Danzig 4” was ultimately added to the packaging. The music continued the band’s dark hard rock and heavy metal style while introducing more experimental textures, including the use of unusual acoustic instruments and studio effects.
Recorded at Ocean Way and Sound City Studios in California, the album expanded the band’s sonic palette with layered guitar sounds and atmospheric production. Critics noted its heavier emphasis on mood and texture compared with earlier releases, while songs such as “Until You Call on the Dark,” “Cantspeak,” and “I Don’t Mind the Pain” became key tracks associated with the record.
