Show Your Bones is the second studio album by Yeah Yeah Yeahs, released in 2006 through Interscope Records. Following Fever to Tell, the band deliberately moved away from repeating the sound of its debut, discarding an early batch of material and rebuilding the album around a more melodic and considered approach. Written largely in Los Angeles and recorded at Dave Sitek's Stay Gold Studios in Brooklyn, the sessions pushed the group toward a more studio focused creative process.
The album retains the band's post punk foundation while placing greater emphasis on melody, atmosphere, and structured songwriting. Karen O's vocals move between restraint and intensity, while Nick Zinner's guitar work and Brian Chase's drumming are given more space within arrangements that are less abrasive than those on the debut. Songs such as "Gold Lion" and "Cheated Hearts" reflect this broader approach, balancing the group's raw energy with a more accessible sound.
Show Your Bones debuted at number 11 on the Billboard 200 and was nominated for Best Alternative Music Album at the 2007 Grammy Awards. It also appeared on several year end and decade lists, marking an important step in the band's development beyond the sound of Fever to Tell.
