NEW LP
New sealed copy, 2024 reissue.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs' third studio album, It's Blitz!, was released on March 6, 2009, through Interscope Records. Originally scheduled for April 14, the album was pushed forward after leaking online in February. Produced by Nick Launay and TV on the Radio's David Andrew Sitek, the album marked a significant departure from the band's guitar-driven sound, incorporating synthesizers and electronic elements after guitarist Nick Zinner brought a vintage ARP synthesizer to the studio sessions in west Texas.
The album was largely written and created in the studio over several months in 2008, with the band building songs from chopped drum loops, rhythm parts, and vocal melodies. Three singles were released: "Zero," "Heads Will Roll," and "Skeletons." The shift toward dance-oriented production distinguished the album from the band's earlier work while maintaining their emotional intensity.
It's Blitz! received universal acclaim from critics, earning a Metacritic score of 82/100 and a nomination for Best Alternative Music Album at the 2010 Grammy Awards. Spin called it "the alternative pop album of the decade," while NME praised it as "an unexpectedly emphatic reassertion of why Yeah Yeah Yeahs are one of the most exciting bands of this decade." Critics highlighted the album's balance between electronic production and heartfelt emotion.
