12 Golden Country Greats is the fifth studio album by Ween, released in 1996 through Elektra Records. It is the only Ween album built entirely around a single genre, with the band working in a traditional country setting and recording at Bradley’s Barn in Tennessee with producer Ben Vaughn.
Most of the instrumentation was performed by veteran Nashville session musicians, while Gene and Dean Ween contributed vocals and selected guitar parts. The album includes “Piss Up a Rope”, “I’m Holding You”, “Help Me Scrape the Mucus off My Brain”, and “Powder Blue”, with the Jordanaires appearing on two tracks. Despite the title, the original album contains ten songs.
In 2026, Rhino announced a 30th anniversary deluxe edition expanding the album to three LPs. The set includes the remastered original album, demos, previously unreleased material, and the outtakes “I’ve Got No Darkside” and “So Long Jerry”.
