Excitable Boy is the third studio album by American singer songwriter Warren Zevon, released in 1978 through Asylum Records. The album brought Zevon his greatest commercial success and includes "Werewolves of London," which reached number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became his best known single.
The record combines rock, singer songwriter material, ballads, and elements of funk and disco, with lyrics that move between dark humor, historical subjects, relationships, and political settings. "Veracruz" addresses the United States occupation of Veracruz, "Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner" draws on the experiences of mercenary David Lindell, and "Lawyers, Guns and Money" is set against Cold War era Latin America. The album also includes "Accidentally Like a Martyr," "Tenderness on the Block," and "Nighttime in the Switching Yard."
Excitable Boy reached the top ten of the Billboard 200 and was certified Platinum in the United States, becoming the best selling album of Zevon's career.
