Runt is the debut studio album by Todd Rundgren, released in 1970 through Ampex Records under the name Runt. The project was built around Rundgren with drummer Hunt Sales and bassist Tony Sales, though Rundgren wrote and produced the entire album and performed most of the instruments himself.
Recording began in Los Angeles before moving to the Record Plant in New York, with additional contributions from musicians including Rick Danko, Levon Helm, Mark Klingman, John Miller, and members of the American Dream. The album combines pop, rock, soul, and studio experimentation, establishing the highly self directed approach that would become central to Rundgren's early solo work.
The album includes "We Got to Get You a Woman," which reached number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. Runt later peaked at number 185 on the Billboard 200.
