Third Eye Blind is the debut studio album by Third Eye Blind, released on April 8, 1997 by Elektra Records. Written primarily by Stephan Jenkins and Kevin Cadogan, and produced alongside Eric Valentine, the album blends alternative rock, post grunge, and power pop with a polished, radio ready sound.

Despite its bright, melodic surface, the album explores heavier themes including addiction, loss, and mental health. Songs like “Semi Charmed Life,” “Jumper,” and “How’s It Going to Be” pair catchy hooks with darker subject matter, a contrast that became central to the band’s identity and helped the record stand out during the late 1990s alternative boom.

Initially a slow build, Third Eye Blind became a major commercial success over time, eventually reaching multi platinum status and spending over two years on the charts. It remains the band’s defining release and a staple of late 90s alternative rock, with several of its singles continuing to receive consistent radio play.
