Under Soil and Dirt is the debut studio album by American pop punk band The Story So Far, released in 2011 through Pure Noise Records. Recorded at The Panda Studios with producer Sam Pura, the album established the band's early sound through tightly paced guitars, forceful vocals, and direct songwriting centered on relationships, frustration, and growing up.
The record was shaped by a mix of contemporary pop punk and broader influences, with the band citing Transit alongside artists such as Elliott Smith, the Weakerthans, Wilco, Mother of Mercy, and Black Breath during the writing period. Songs including "Quicksand," "High Regard," "Placeholder," and "Roam" helped define the album's energetic and emotionally blunt approach.
Under Soil and Dirt was well received within the pop punk scene and became an important early release for both the band and Pure Noise Records. It was later included by Rock Sound among its 51 most essential pop punk albums.
