Endless Summer is a Beach Boys compilation released in 1974 by Capitol Records, collecting many of the band's best known recordings from their early 1960s period. Featuring classics such as “Surfin' U.S.A.”, “California Girls”, “I Get Around”, and “Fun, Fun, Fun”, the album served as an accessible introduction to the group's formative years.
Released amid a growing wave of nostalgia for early rock and roll, Endless Summer arrived after renewed interest in the Beach Boys' music following the success of American Graffiti. The compilation proved to be a major commercial success, reaching number one in both the United States and Canada and introducing the band's early catalogue to a new generation of listeners.
Although it focused exclusively on the Beach Boys' pre Pet Sounds material, Endless Summer became one of the most successful releases of their career. Its popularity helped revive the band's commercial fortunes during the 1970s and remains one of the best known collections of their early surf, hot rod, and California themed recordings.
