NEW DOUBLE LP

New sealed copy. 2016 reissue.

...Nothing Like the Sun is the second solo studio album by Sting, released in 1987 through A&M Records. Recorded at AIR Studios in Montserrat, the album was made with producers Bryan Loren and Neil Dorfsman and features contributions from guitarists Andy Summers, Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, and Hiram Bullock.

The record combines pop rock, soft rock, jazz, reggae, funk, and acoustic material, with songs addressing relationships, mortality, political violence, and personal loss. "They Dance Alone" was inspired by women protesting the disappearance and murder of family members under the Chilean dictatorship, while "Englishman in New York" was written about Quentin Crisp. Other singles included "We'll Be Together," "Be Still My Beating Heart," and "Fragile." The album title comes from Shakespeare's Sonnet 130, which Sting references in "Sister Moon."

...Nothing Like the Sun reached number one in the United Kingdom and number nine on the Billboard 200. It won Best British Album at the 1988 Brit Awards and received three Grammy nominations, including Album of the Year.
