Tha Last Meal is the fifth studio album by Snoop Dogg, released on December 19 2000 through No Limit Records, Doggy Style Records, and Priority Records. It was Snoop Dogg’s third and final album issued during his time at No Limit and the first to be released through his own label, Doggy Style, in partnership with Priority in the United States. The title reflects the end of his contractual relationships tied to earlier label arrangements.
The album features production from Dr Dre, Timbaland, Soopafly, and others, and includes the singles “Snoop Dogg Whats My Name Pt 2,” “Lay Low,” “Loosen Control,” and “Wrong Idea.” It represents a transitional period in Snoop Dogg’s career as he moved toward greater control over his releases.
Tha Last Meal debuted at number nine on the United States Billboard 200 and peaked at number four, spending four consecutive weeks in the top ten. It also debuted at number one on the Top R and B Hip Hop Albums chart and remained there for four weeks. The album was certified platinum by the RIAA in February 2001 and went on to sell over two million copies in the United States.
