God Hates Us All is the ninth studio album by Slayer, released in 2001 through American Recordings. Recorded at The Warehouse Studio in Vancouver with producer Matt Hyde, the album followed Diabolus in Musica and continued the band's use of lower tunings and contemporary metal influences while retaining the speed and aggression central to their thrash metal sound. It was also Slayer's final album with drummer Paul Bostaph until his return on Repentless in 2015.
Kerry King wrote most of the lyrics, shifting away from some of the supernatural imagery of earlier records toward subjects including religion, revenge, violence, frustration, and self control. Songs such as "Disciple," "Threshold," "Cast Down," and "God Send Death" reflect the album's more direct approach, while Tom Araya adopted a particularly forceful vocal style to match the material.
God Hates Us All reached number 28 on the Billboard 200 and number nine on the Canadian Albums Chart. "Disciple" received a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance, giving Slayer the first Grammy nomination of their career.
