Shawn is the fifth studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes, released on November 15, 2024 through Island Records. Written during a period of reflection following the cancellation of his Wonder: The World Tour in 2022, the record finds Mendes turning inward, addressing themes of self-discovery, renewal, and emotional honesty. Co-produced with longtime collaborator Scott Harris alongside Mike Sabath, Nate Mercereau, Eddie Benjamin, Ethan Gruska, and Ilya, the album marks a shift from pop-centric production toward a warmer, folk-pop sound built around organic instrumentation and understated arrangements.
Led by the single “Why Why Why” and its companion track “Isn’t That Enough,” Shawn was gradually unveiled through a series of intimate performances and televised appearances, including the debut of “Nobody Knows” at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards. The rollout culminated with “Heart of Gold,” released shortly before the album’s arrival, and a companion concert film, Shawn Mendes: For Friends and Family Only (A Live Concert Film), which captured the stripped-back spirit of the project. Mendes supported the release with a short run of small-venue shows across the United States, reinforcing the album’s introspective tone.
Upon release, Shawn debuted at number 24 on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart, number 26 on the US Billboard 200, and number 2 on the Folk Albums chart. Though it marked a more modest commercial showing than his previous chart-topping efforts, the album represented a deliberate artistic reset—an unguarded collection that trades pop polish for sincerity, and repositions Mendes as a songwriter in pursuit of depth rather than spectacle.
