NEW LP
New sealed copy. 2023 remastered reissue.
Signals is the ninth studio album by Rush, released on September 9, 1982 by Anthem Records. Coming after the massive success of Moving Pictures, the album saw the band push further into synthesizers, sequencers, and electronic textures while scaling back the guitar heavy sound of their 1970s records. It was also the final Rush album produced by longtime collaborator Terry Brown.
The album includes some of the band’s most recognizable tracks from the era, including “Subdivisions,” “The Analog Kid,” and “New World Man.” The latter became Rush’s highest charting single in the United States and a number one hit in Canada. Lyrically, drummer and writer Neil Peart explored themes of suburban life, individuality, technology, and social pressure.
Signals was a commercial success, reaching number one in Canada, number three in the United Kingdom, and number ten in the United States, where it was certified platinum. Over time it has come to be viewed as an important turning point in Rush’s sound as the band moved deeper into the synth driven style that would define much of their 1980s work.
