NEW LP

Hemispheres is the sixth studio album by Rush, released in 1978 through Anthem Records in Canada and Mercury Records elsewhere. Recorded at Rockfield Studios in Wales with producer Terry Brown, the album continued the progressive direction of A Farewell to Kings while pushing the band toward longer compositions, complex arrangements, and demanding instrumental performances.
The first side is devoted to the 18 minute "Cygnus X 1 Book II: Hemispheres," which continues the narrative begun on A Farewell to Kings. The second side includes "Circumstances," "The Trees," and the instrumental "La Villa Strangiato," one of the most technically challenging pieces Rush had recorded at the time.
Hemispheres reached number 14 in both Canada and the United Kingdom and later achieved platinum status in Canada and the United States. The difficult recording process also influenced Rush's decision to pursue more concise song structures on Permanent Waves.
