The Inflated Tear is a 1968 studio album by multi instrumentalist Roland Kirk, released on Atlantic Records. The record showcases Kirk’s approach to jazz, combining blues based forms, free improvisation, and distinctive use of multiple instruments played simultaneously.
The album was reissued in 1998 by Rhino with an additional track and expanded liner notes. In 2017 it was included at number 170 on Pitchfork’s list of the two hundred best albums of the nineteen sixties, reflecting its enduring critical standing within that decade.
