Robyn is the fourth album by Robyn, originally released in 2005 in Sweden through her own label Konichiwa Records. The record marked a major turning point in her career after she left Jive Records in search of greater creative control, choosing instead to launch and release music through her own independent imprint.
Musically, the album moves away from the R and B sound of her earlier work and leans heavily into synth pop and dance pop, drawing inspiration from Swedish electronic artists such as The Knife. Tracks like “Be Mine!,” “Konichiwa Bitches,” and the Kleerup collaboration “With Every Heartbeat” combine direct, emotionally open songwriting with sharp electronic production and club driven rhythms.
The album debuted at number one in Sweden and eventually reached a wider international audience through later releases in Europe and North America. Over time it became one of the most influential pop albums of the 2000s, helping redefine Robyn as an independent artist with a distinctive voice in modern dance pop.
