Flesh & Blood is the third studio album by Poison, released in 1990 through Enigma and Capitol Records. Recorded at Little Mountain Sound Studios in Vancouver with producer Bruce Fairbairn and mixer Mike Fraser, the album followed Open Up and Say... Ahh! and reflected the band's effort to move beyond the party driven image of its earlier work toward a broader and more serious musical approach.
The record combines glam metal and hard rock with elements of blues rock, balancing songs about sex, music, and excess with material addressing relationships, loss, hardship, and social disillusionment. "Unskinny Bop" and "Something to Believe In" became the album's biggest singles, while "Ride the Wind," "Life Goes On," and "(Flesh & Blood) Sacrifice" also received significant attention. The album's presentation similarly toned down the exaggerated glam styling associated with Poison's earlier records.
Flesh & Blood reached number two on the Billboard albums chart and number one on the Cash Box chart. It was certified triple Platinum in the United States by 1991 and became one of the band's most commercially successful releases.
