The Black Parade is the third studio album by American rock band My Chemical Romance, released in 2006 through Reprise Records. Produced by the band with Rob Cavallo, the album was recorded primarily at the Paramour Mansion in Los Angeles. Conceived as a concept album, it follows a terminally ill character known as the Patient as he reflects on his life and approaches death.
The album combines emo, alternative rock, punk rock, hard rock, glam rock, and classic rock influences within a more theatrical and structured approach than the band's earlier work. Songs including "Welcome to the Black Parade," "Famous Last Words," "I Don't Love You," "Cancer," and "Teenagers" address mortality, regret, fear, identity, and perseverance within the album's central narrative.
The Black Parade debuted at number two on both the Billboard 200 and the UK Albums Chart. "Welcome to the Black Parade" became the band's first number one single in the United Kingdom, and the album was later certified four times Platinum in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
