NEW LP
New sealed copy. Canadian exclusive opaque red coloured vinyl.
Released on August 22, 2025, Guitar marks Mac DeMarco’s sixth studio album and a clear return to more focused songwriting after the sprawling One Wayne G. Written, recorded, and produced entirely in November 2024 at his home studio in Los Angeles, the album reflects a deeply personal snapshot of where DeMarco is at this stage in his life. “It’s as close a representation of where I’m at in my life today as I can manage on paper,” he noted ahead of release.
The album was introduced gradually with three singles—“Home,” “Holy,” and “Phantom”—each accompanied by a music video and spaced a month apart. Together, they set the tone for an album that’s contemplative and intimate, without losing the offbeat charm that DeMarco is known for.
Guitar arrives after a brief period of speculation about whether DeMarco might be stepping back from music altogether. In 2022, he hinted at the possibility of a hiatus, but by 2023 had shifted gears, sharing on a podcast that he had a clear idea for a new album—and that “it’s going to be good.” A shelved project titled Hear the Music preceded Guitar, though it remains unreleased.
To support the album, DeMarco announced a tour spanning North America and Europe from August through December 2025. As with much of his work, Guitar feels like an unfiltered expression—this time pared down, cohesive, and deeply reflective.
