NEW LP
New sealed copy. Indie record store exclusive limited edition on transparent blood red coloured vinyl.
Virgin, Lorde’s fourth studio album, marks a sharp creative pivot—an intimate, electronic-heavy project that trades the sun-drenched ease of Solar Power for something darker, more experimental, and emotionally raw. Released in June 2025, the album explores themes of identity, heartbreak, femininity, and physical vulnerability, shaped in part by personal health struggles and a highly public breakup.
Co-produced with Jim-E Stack and featuring contributions from Dev Hynes, Dan Nigro, and others, Virgin layers glitchy beats, moody textures, and unexpected samples, including Dexta Daps and Baby Bash. The production is intricate and restrained, matching Lorde’s introspective lyrics and shifting emotional tones.
The album’s release was preceded by the singles “What Was That,” “Man of the Year,” and “Hammer,” each reflecting different facets of the record’s sonic palette. Surprise live performances and guerrilla-style pop-up events helped build anticipation, culminating in a full album debut at Glastonbury.
Critically acclaimed, Virgin earned an 85 on Metacritic and was praised for its bold vulnerability and sonic evolution. While some found it elusive, many hailed it as Lorde’s most introspective and conceptually ambitious work to date.
