Love Gun is the sixth studio album by Kiss, released in 1977 through Casablanca Records. Produced by Eddie Kramer, it was recorded at the Record Plant in New York and became the first Kiss studio album to feature lead vocals from all four members, including Ace Frehley’s first lead vocal on “Shock Me”.
The album continues the band’s hard rock sound with a tighter, more polished studio approach. “I Stole Your Love”, “Christine Sixteen”, “Shock Me”, “Plaster Caster”, and the title track became key songs from the record, while the closing “Then She Kissed Me” reworks the Crystals’ 1963 single “Then He Kissed Me”.
Love Gun became Kiss’s first album to reach the Top 5 on the Billboard 200 and was certified platinum in the United States. Released during the band’s commercial peak in the late 1970s, it was followed later that year by the live album Alive II.
