My World is the debut EP by Canadian singer Justin Bieber, released in 2009 through Island, RBMG, and Schoolboy Records. Developed after Bieber gained a large audience through YouTube and signed with Island Records, the project was conceived as the first half of a larger release that continued with My World 2.0 in 2010. Bieber worked with producers including Tricky Stewart, D'Mile, and MIDI Mafia, with Usher also contributing vocals.
Musically, My World combines pop, dance pop, and R&B influences with songs centered on teenage romance, relationships, and coming of age. "One Time" and "One Less Lonely Girl" became the project's major singles, while "Down to Earth" drew from Bieber's experience of his parents' separation. "First Dance" features Usher, and "Love Me" incorporates a sample of the Cardigans' "Lovefool."
My World debuted at number six on the Billboard 200 and later reached number five following the release of My World 2.0. It also topped the Canadian Albums Chart and earned multiple platinum certifications internationally, establishing Bieber as a major new pop artist at the beginning of his recording career.
