NEW LP
New sealed copy. Indie record store exclusive limited edition on cream white coloured vinyl.
On plum, released via Atlantic Records, Josh Conway steps out from his role as the primary producer and co-writer of The Marías to deliver a 9-track, 35-minute debut solo LP. Explicitly designed to distance itself from his main band's signature dream-pop, the album instead establishes a self-contained indie-pop sound. Production relies heavily on mid-tempo arrangements, tape saturation, and automated drum machines, featuring contributions from Lewis OfMan and Alessandro Buccellati.
Musically, the record blends minimal 1980s synth-pop textures with modern indie arrangements. Tracks like "bully" use sparse instrumentation that builds into a restrained climax, while singles like "forget him" and "crumble" rely on warm synthesizer layers and subtle, glitchy vocal editing. The project functions as a straightforward showcase of Conway's technical versatility outside a collaborative band dynamic.
