The Age of Everything is the fifth solo studio album by Johnny Marr, released in 2026 through New Voodoo and BMG. Written in London and recorded in Manchester, the album was produced by Marr and longtime collaborator James Doviak. Much of the material was developed onstage before recording, with Marr road testing eight of the ten songs during tours in late 2025 and early 2026 and adjusting arrangements, tempos, and lyrics through live performance.
The album addresses technology, social pressure, political frustration, relationships, grief, and the way Marr viewed the world during the years leading up to its release. "Spin" deals with information overload, while "It's Time" and "Fire with Fire" address capitalism, prejudice, and political cynicism. "Beyond the Rain" was written in response to the loss of a friend, while "How Come" and "That Feeling" focus on people experiencing personal difficulties.
Marr described The Age of Everything as his most cathartic record, with its title referring both to the sense of overload created by contemporary technology and to the possibilities that access to information can provide.
