NEW LP
New sealed copy. 2025 reissue to commemorate Joe Cocker's 2025 induction into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame.
With a Little Help from My Friends is Joe Cocker’s debut album, released in April 1969. Produced by Denny Cordell, the record pairs Cocker with a mix of British and American session musicians and focuses on reinterpretations of contemporary rock and soul material, including songs by the Beatles, Traffic, and Bob Dylan. The approach emphasizes his gravel-edged vocal delivery and a blend of blues, gospel, and R&B influences.
The album performed steadily on release, reaching No. 35 on the Billboard 200 and later earning gold certification in the United States. In the UK, it charted at No. 29 when reissued in 1972 alongside his second album. The title track, originally by Lennon and McCartney, became Cocker’s signature performance and was later inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
Contemporary and later critics praised the album’s arrangements and Cocker’s ability to reshape familiar songs without losing their core appeal. Over time, it has been regarded as a strong debut that established his interpretive style and set up his run of commercially successful releases that followed.
