NEW DOUBLE LP
New sealed copy. 180 gram vinyl. Gatefold jacket.
You and I, a compilation album by Jeff Buckley, was released on March 11, 2016, through Legacy Recordings. The songs were recorded in 1993 and represent some of his earliest works for Columbia Records. The album primarily consists of cover songs.
The recording sessions for the album took place in February 1993 and were intended to create a comprehensive collection of songs for Buckley’s artistic development. A&R representative Steve Berkowitz aptly described these sessions as a “Table of Contents” for the singer. The 2016 release of the album marks the first time these session recordings have been made accessible to the public.
According to Buckley’s mother, he was quite insecure during these sessions and made several late-night calls to her, expressing fears of being fired.
In addition to several cover songs, the album also features two original compositions by Buckley: an early demo of “Grace” that later appeared on his debut album of the same name, and “Dream of You and I.” Album producer Steve Addabbo suggested that at that stage of his career, Buckley might have been so skilled at covering songs that he faced challenges in composing his own material.
More material from these February 1993 sessions was later included on the LP “In Transition,” which was released on Record Store Day 2019.
