This Mirror Weighs a Ton is the eighth studio album by American rock band Interpol, released in 2026 through Partisan Records. Produced by Andrew Wyatt and mixed by Dave Fridmann, the album was recorded in New York City and marked the band's first recording sessions in their home state in roughly a decade.
The record continues Interpol's dark, tightly controlled guitar sound while placing greater emphasis on atmosphere, texture, and emotional tension. Themes of reflection, perception, and personal unease run throughout the album, with Paul Banks developing lyrics through his usual improvisational vocal process. The album includes the singles "This Mirror Weighs a Ton," "See Out Loud," and "Iron City."
The release also coincided with longtime touring musicians Brad Truax and Brandon Curtis becoming official members of Interpol, although only Truax appears on the album, with Wyatt handling the keyboards and synthesizers.
