NEW LP
New sealed copy.
Caught Light is the ninth studio album by Great Lake Swimmers, led by songwriter Tony Dekker. Recorded in Ontario’s Ganaraska Forest with producer Darcy Yates (Bahamas) and engineer Jimmy Bowskill (Blue Rodeo), it marks the first time Dekker has ceded production control. The trio aimed for the warmth and intimacy of early ’70s folk-rock, tracking live in just three days to capture a raw, immediate sound.
The album opens with “One More Dance Around the Sun” and “Wrong, Wrong, Wrong,” two of Dekker’s strongest songs to date. Both balance familiar Great Lake Swimmers introspection with an easy, lived-in optimism. Elsewhere, Bowskill’s pedal steel and mandolin lend texture to songs like “Running Out of Time” and “Endless Detours,” grounding Dekker’s quiet reflections in warm, analog tones.
After more than twenty years and countless lineup changes, Caught Light finds Great Lake Swimmers renewed rather than nostalgic. It’s an album about clarity, impermanence, and rediscovery—music that embraces change while staying rooted in the landscapes that shaped it.
