The Mountain is the ninth studio album by Gorillaz, released in 2026 through the group's own Kong label. Recorded across India, London, and other locations, the album incorporates Indian classical instrumentation alongside the electronic, pop, and global influences that have long shaped the project. Performances appear in several languages, including English, Arabic, Hindi, Spanish, and Yoruba.
The album centers on themes of death, grief, memory, and the afterlife, shaped in part by personal losses experienced by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett during its development. Its extensive group of collaborators includes Asha Bhosle, Asha Puthli, Black Thought, Anoushka Shankar, Johnny Marr, Sparks, Omar Souleyman, Trueno, and Yasiin Bey. The record also incorporates previously unused performances from late collaborators including Bobby Womack, Dennis Hopper, David Jolicoeur, Tony Allen, Proof, and Mark E. Smith.
The Mountain was first performed in full during Gorillaz's 25th anniversary events in London before its release. It later debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart, becoming the group's third album to reach the top position there.
