Live At 6 O’Clock captures Gord Downie, The Sadies, and the Conquering Sun on stage during the 2014 tour that followed the release of their self titled studio album. Drawn from four festival performances, the album documents the group's live chemistry, pairing Downie’s distinctive vocals and lyrics with the driving, guitar heavy sound of The Sadies.
The eight song set combines material from the band's lone studio album with interpretations of songs by artists including Neil Young, The Who, Roky Erickson, The Stooges, The Gun Club, and Toronto punk band Fucked Up. Recorded at a time when the project was still actively touring, the performances emphasize the group's raw, energetic approach rather than the more controlled atmosphere of the studio recordings.
Featuring members of The Sadies alongside Downie, Live At 6 O’Clock serves as a live document of a short lived but memorable collaboration, capturing a series of performances that blended rock, punk, psychedelic, and roots influences into a distinct and highly charged live sound.
