Released on 24 April 2025, Skeletá is the sixth studio album from Swedish rock band Ghost, following their 2022 release Impera. Issued through Loma Vista Recordings, the album was introduced with the singles Satanized, Lachryma and Peacefield, and features the debut of the band’s new front-facing figurehead, Papa V Perpetua.
Described as Ghost’s most introspective work to date, Skeletá explores themes of emotional reckoning, spiritual unrest and dark transformation, pairing the band’s signature theatricality with a broader sonic palette. Drawing on hard rock, arena rock, pop metal and even moments of melodic restraint, the album marks a shift toward more layered, mood-driven songwriting.
Critics have responded positively, with Skeletá earning a Metacritic score of 79 and praise for its narrative ambition and sonic detail. As both a continuation and a reinvention, the album finds Ghost refining their sound while deepening their mythos, making Skeletá one of the band’s most fully realized efforts to date.
