NEW DOUBLE LP
New sealed copy. 2023 reissue.
How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful is the third studio album by English indie rock band Florence and the Machine, released on 29 May 2015 via Island Records. Following a year-long hiatus, lead vocalist Florence Welch returned to the studio to craft an album deeply rooted in personal reflection and emotional turmoil. Musically, the album marks a departure from the lush, baroque arrangements of the band's earlier work, embracing a more stripped-down, refined sound. Drawing influences from folk, blues, and gospel, the record presents a raw, introspective energy.
Critics praised How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful for its cohesive production and Welch's commanding vocal performance. The album appeared on several year-end best-of lists, with many noting its maturity and emotional depth. Upon release, it debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart, selling 68,788 copies in its first week, making it the band’s third consecutive chart-topping album. Four singles were issued from the album: "What Kind of Man," "Ship to Wreck," "Queen of Peace," and "Delilah." The album also earned Florence and the Machine five Grammy Award nominations and was shortlisted for the 2015 Mercury Prize.
