Rumours is the eleventh studio album by Fleetwood Mac, released in 1977 through Warner Bros. Records. Produced by the band with Ken Caillat and Richard Dashut, it was recorded during a period of intense personal conflict, as the relationships between several members were ending.
The album combines polished pop rock with acoustic guitar, keyboards, close vocal harmonies, and a tightly arranged rhythm section. “Dreams”, “Go Your Own Way”, “Don’t Stop”, and “You Make Loving Fun” each approach romantic separation from a different perspective, while “The Chain” is the only track credited to all five members.
Rumours topped the album charts in both the United Kingdom and the United States, won Album of the Year at the 1978 Grammy Awards, and has sold more than 40 million copies worldwide.
