NEW DOUBLE LP

Extraordinary Machine is the third studio album by Fiona Apple, released in 2005 through Epic Records. The album had originally been completed with producer Jon Brion several years earlier, but repeated delays and concerns about its commercial direction led Apple to revisit the material with Mike Elizondo and Brian Kehew. Most of the songs were substantially rearranged before the final version was released.

The finished album centers on Apple's piano, vocals, and sharply detailed songwriting, with arrangements that move between art pop, chamber pop, jazz influenced passages, and more rhythm driven material. "Extraordinary Machine" and "Waltz" remained largely unchanged from the earlier sessions, while songs such as "Not About Love," "O' Sailor," "Better Version of Me," and "Oh Well" were rebuilt around new instrumentation and production.

The long delay became a major part of the album's history after unfinished recordings leaked online and fans organized a campaign calling for its release. Extraordinary Machine ultimately debuted at number seven on the Billboard 200 and received a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album.
