The album blends dynamic live performances with new studio material, showcasing the band’s genre-defying mix of funk, soul, jazz, and pop. Co-produced by Maurice White and Charles Stepney, the release topped both the Billboard 200 and Top Soul Albums charts and was later certified Triple Platinum in the US.
The album features standout singles like “Sing a Song” (a number one R&B hit) and “Can’t Hide Love,” which earned a Grammy nomination for Best Arrangement for Voices. A 1999 reissue added additional live material, including a medley recorded during a 1978 CBS special.
