Honey Bones is the third studio album by Angus Stone and his first released under the name Dope Lemon. Issued in 2016, the album introduced a looser, more psychedelic direction than his earlier solo work.
Built around hazy guitars, subdued rhythms, and relaxed vocal delivery, the record blends folk, blues, psychedelic rock, and understated electronic textures. Songs such as “Marinade”, “Uptown Folks”, and “Stonecutters” favour repetition and atmosphere over conventional pop structure, giving the album a slow, nocturnal character.
Honey Bones reached number 11 on the Australian albums chart and established the sound Stone would continue to develop under the Dope Lemon name.
