Gettin’ Around is a 1966 album by American jazz saxophonist Dexter Gordon, recorded over two sessions in May 1965 and released on Blue Note Records. The album captures Gordon at a transitional moment, reflecting the stylistic shift he developed while living in Europe.
A 1966 Billboard review praised Gordon’s performance as both “cool and hot,” highlighting his improvisations on “Heartaches” and calling the rhythm section’s support “A-1 all the way.” In contrast, AllMusic critic Michael G. Nastos offered a more tempered assessment, noting that while the album is not a definitive hard bop statement, it remains an enjoyable listen and marks a turning point in Gordon’s career.
