NEW DOUBLE LP
New sealed copy. 2025 remastered reissue.
Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs is the sole studio album by Derek and the Dominos, released in 1970. Led by Eric Clapton and featuring Bobby Whitlock, Carl Radle, Jim Gordon, and guest guitarist Duane Allman, the double album blends blues, rock, soul, and improvisational influences into a sprawling collection of original songs and reinterpretations of blues standards.
Much of the album was inspired by Clapton's unrequited love for Pattie Boyd, an influence most evident on the title track, “Layla”. Alongside that signature recording, the album includes songs such as “Bell Bottom Blues”, “Why Does Love Got to Be So Sad?”, “Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out”, and “Key to the Highway”. Duane Allman's slide guitar contributions became a defining element of the album's sound.
Although it was only a modest commercial success upon release, Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs has since come to be regarded as one of the most acclaimed rock albums of its era. Its combination of blues based songwriting, extended musicianship, and emotional intensity has made it a landmark recording in Eric Clapton's catalogue and in the history of classic rock.
