Crowded House is the debut album by the New Zealand-Australian band Crowded House, released in August 1986 and produced by Mitchell Froom. It became a platinum-certified success in four countries and features hit singles like "Don't Dream It's Over," "Something So Strong," "Mean to Me," "World Where You Live," and "Now We're Getting Somewhere." The album won Best Debut Album at the 1986 Countdown Australian Music Awards and was ranked number 7 on Rolling Stone Australia's 2021 list of the 200 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Following the breakup of Split Enz, Neil Finn and drummer Paul Hester formed a new group with bassist Nick Seymour, initially called The Mullanes. After moving to Los Angeles to record and living in cramped quarters, the band adopted the name Crowded House. Larry Hirsh recorded the rhythm tracks at Capitol Recording Studios, while the rest of the album was completed at Sunset Sound with engineer Tchad Blake and mixed by Michael Frondelli at Studio 55. Drummer Jim Keltner and bassist Jerry Scheff played on "Now We're Getting Somewhere."
