Chronicle: The 20 Greatest Hits is a Creedence Clearwater Revival compilation released in 1976 by Fantasy Records. Spanning the band's most successful years, the collection brings together all of Creedence's major charting singles, including “Proud Mary”, “Bad Moon Rising”, “Fortunate Son”, “Down on the Corner”, “Green River”, and “Have You Ever Seen the Rain”.
Unlike earlier compilations, Chronicle was designed as a comprehensive overview of the band's hit making period, collecting both A sides and B sides from their run of successful singles between 1968 and 1972. The album also includes an edited version of “I Heard It Through the Grapevine”, which was released as a single alongside the compilation.
Since its release, Chronicle has become the best selling title in the Creedence Clearwater Revival catalogue and one of the most enduring greatest hits collections in rock music. Its concise selection of songs offers a broad overview of the band's blend of rock, blues, country, and swamp rock, making it a popular introduction to Creedence's music.
