NEW DOUBLE LP
New sealed copy. 2019 limited edition remastered reissue on orange coloured vinyl.
Tago Mago is a 1971 double album by the German band Can, released through United Artists Records. It was the group’s first full album with vocalist Damo Suzuki and was recorded at Schloss Nörvenich, a medieval castle near Cologne, with bassist Holger Czukay handling much of the recording and tape editing.
The album combines rock improvisation, funk rhythms, experimental electronics, and musique concrète. The first disc is comparatively structured, while the second moves further into extended improvisation and tape manipulation. “Halleluhwah” is built around Jaki Liebezeit’s repetitive drum groove, while “Aumgn” and “Peking O” push the record into more abstract electronic territory.
Tago Mago became one of Can’s most widely cited recordings and later influenced artists including Public Image Ltd., Talk Talk, Primal Scream, and Radiohead.
