Stealing Fire is a 1984 album by Canadian singer songwriter Bruce Cockburn. Written in part after a trip to Central America with Oxfam, the record incorporates international musical influences while focusing heavily on political and humanitarian subjects drawn from what Cockburn witnessed in Nicaragua, Guatemala, and southern Mexico.
The album includes two of Cockburn's best known songs, "Lovers in a Dangerous Time" and "If I Had a Rocket Launcher." The latter was inspired by the conditions faced by Guatemalan refugees and became one of his most direct political compositions, while "Lovers in a Dangerous Time" paired similar social concerns with a more personal perspective. Both songs became important parts of Cockburn's catalogue and were later covered by other Canadian artists.
Engineer John Naslen received a Juno Award for his work on the album, while producers Jon Goldsmith and Kerry Crawford earned a nomination. In 2018, Stealing Fire received the Polaris Heritage Prize Jury Award for the 1976 to 1985 period.
