Not Bad for New Jersey is a 2026 solo album by Brian Fallon, frontman of the Gaslight Anthem, and his first collection of original solo material since Local Honey in 2020. Produced by longtime collaborator Butch Walker at his studio outside Nashville, the album returns Fallon to a louder rock setting built around power pop, heartland rock, and the melodic influence of the 1980s music he grew up with.
The record draws heavily on Fallon's New Jersey background, using the state as a setting for songs about resilience, disappointment, romantic longing, and finding value in overcoming difficult circumstances. The title track reflects directly on his relationship with his home state, while "Better Before," "Pearls," and "Nobody Likes You in NYC" move between relationship writing, reflections on privilege and self worth, and more direct punk influenced rock.
Guest musicians include Brandon Flowers of the Killers on "Love at the End of the World," Phil Collen of Def Leppard on "Somewhere You Shouldn't Be," Lori McKenna on "On Good Terms," and Marc Ribot on "Wolf by the River." Canadian songwriter Donovan Woods also contributed to the sessions, continuing a songwriting partnership with Fallon that extends beyond the album.
