Montara is a 1975 album by vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson, released on Blue Note. Arriving during a period when Hutcherson was exploring warmer, more groove-focused settings, the record blends Latin jazz, soul, and laid-back West Coast atmosphere. Featuring arrangements built around vibraphone, flute, percussion, and electric keys, it offers a melodic and rhythmic approach distinct from his earlier post-bop work.
Its relaxed feel and emphasis on groove have helped the album endure as a favorite among jazz listeners and record collectors. AllMusic’s Thom Jurek called Montara “one of the great feel good jazz albums of the 1970s” and praised it as a standout of both Latin and groove-oriented jazz from the era.
