Elephunk is the third studio album by the Black Eyed Peas, released in 2003 through A&M, Interscope, and will.i.am Music Group. Recorded over an extended period beginning in 2001, it was the group’s first album to feature Fergie as a permanent member and marked a clear shift toward a broader pop focused sound.
The album combines hip hop and pop with R&B, funk, Latin, dancehall, rock, and electronic influences. “Where Is the Love?”, featuring Justin Timberlake, brought a more socially conscious tone, while “Shut Up”, “Hey Mama”, and “Let’s Get It Started” pushed the group further into mainstream radio and international pop.
Elephunk became the Black Eyed Peas’ commercial breakthrough, reaching number 14 on the Billboard 200 and selling more than nine million copies worldwide. “Where Is the Love?” reached number one in numerous countries, while “Let’s Get It Started” later earned the group their first Grammy Award.
