Riding with the King is a collaborative album by B.B. King and Eric Clapton, released in 2000. Their first full album together, it followed decades of mutual admiration and earlier appearances on stage and record.
The collection combines electric and acoustic blues, revisiting B.B. King material such as “Three O’Clock Blues”, “Ten Long Years”, and “Help the Poor” alongside standards including “Key to the Highway” and “Worried Life Blues”. The title track is a John Hiatt composition, while “Hold On, I’m Comin’” brings a soul influence to the set. King handles many of the lead vocals and solos, with Clapton working largely in a supporting role.
Riding with the King topped Billboard’s blues albums chart, was certified double platinum in the United States, and won the Grammy Award for Best Traditional Blues Album.
