Sweetener is the fourth studio album by Ariana Grande, released in 2018 through Republic Records. Created with producers including Pharrell Williams, Max Martin, Ilya Salmanzadeh, and Hit-Boy, the album marked a stylistic shift, blending pop and R&B with elements of trap, funk, neo soul, house, and hip hop.
Featuring the singles “No Tears Left to Cry”, “God Is a Woman”, and “Breathin”, Sweetener explores themes of healing, resilience, love, anxiety, and personal growth. Its experimental production and mix of upbeat pop songs and more introspective ballads reflected a new creative direction for Grande while showcasing her vocal range.
Sweetener debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and topped charts in several countries, including Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, and the United Kingdom. The album also earned Grande her first Grammy Award, winning Best Pop Vocal Album at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards.
