Favourite Worst Nightmare is the second studio album by English rock band Arctic Monkeys, released in 2007 through Domino Recording Company. Recorded at Miloco Studios in East London with producers James Ford and Mike Crossey, it was the band's first album with bassist Nick O'Malley, who replaced Andy Nicholson following the release of Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not.
The album expands on the band's early indie rock and post punk sound with heavier production, more varied drum patterns, and a broader range of arrangements. Songs such as "Brianstorm," "Fluorescent Adolescent," "Do Me a Favour," "Teddy Picker," and "505" move beyond the local nightlife observations of the debut toward themes of relationships, distance, travel, and emotional uncertainty. The closing "505" also incorporates an organ part inspired by Ennio Morricone's score for The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
Favourite Worst Nightmare debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and number seven on the Billboard 200. It was nominated for the Mercury Prize and won Best British Album at the 2008 Brit Awards.
